Training and Events
The Exploration 07 Committee has organized a diverse and stimulating programme that forms the technical core of the conference. Any additions and changes to the technical programme will be posted on the Technical Sessions page as they are made available by the Technical Committee. The major elements of the programme are as follows:
Open Forum (Sunday afternoon)
The kick-off session will feature a panel of industry leaders commenting on the 'state-of-the-nation' in terms of minerals exploration technology; this will be followed by panel-audience discussion. > More
Plenary Sessions (Monday)
In the morning Globally-recognized authorities will provide concise reviews of the state-of-the-art in mineral exploration technology. In the afternoon, a panel of experts will provide their insights into how to gain maximum benefit from technology followed by a panel-audience discussion. > More
Concurrent Sessions (Tuesday)
Invited speakers will provide papers that focus on various aspects of geophysics, geochemistry and applied exploration technology during three concurrent sessions that run throughout the day. > More
Plenary Session (Wednesday)
Invited speakers in this day-long session will discuss the current thinking with respect to the characteristics of specific mineral deposit models and the technologies best suited to explore for them. > More
3D Visualization Theatre (Monday-Wednesday)
A rolling series of technology, case history and commercial presentations will be given in the state-of-the-art 3D Theatre; theatre presentations will run in parallel to the oral sessions.
Some 74 poster presentations were submitted to complement the themes covered by the oral sessions. These are divided into two sessions, with dedicated presentations taking place on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
There are four workshops planned prior to Exploration 07 (Saturday and Sunday), and three afterwards (Thursday and Friday). All workshops are being organized by groups or individuals independent of the Exploration 07 Organizing Committee, but are endorsed by Exploration 07. All workshops will be held at the conference venue, the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
A workshop registration fee includes participation in the workshop, the workshop proceedings in digital and/or hard copy form, buffet luncheon and coffee breaks. When registering for more than one workshop, please ensure that the dates do not conflict. The fees for workshop registration are provided on the conference registration form. Reduced fees for a limited number of students are available.
Visits to Manufacturers, Consultants, and Service Companies
The Toronto area is the base for many internationally known exploration consultants, contractors and instrument manufacturers who will welcome delegates to visit individually or in organized tours after the close of Exploration 07. Participating companies will provide on-site registration at their booths in the exhibit area.
Interested companies are invited to join in a series of commercial presentations to be held between the oral sessions. These presentations offer an ideal opportunity to showcase your latest developments in technology and methods. Preference will be given to conference sponsors.
During the week preceding the conference, field schools will be offered in geophysics and geochemistry. These field schools offer the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of the latest analytical and practical methods.
Publication of Proceedings
The publications from Exploration 67, 77, 87 and 97 conferences have become unique and important references for geoscientists. The participation of highly experienced individuals from international organizations in Exploration 07 will contribute to an even more significant volume, which will be available to delegates at the time of the conference.
